Community Unity Week at the Kansas City Public Library
Special Story time and Valentine Card Craft

Tuesday, January 17, 2017 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King., Jr., the Kansas City Public Library and Harvesters are teaming together to celebrate Community Unity Week.

On Tuesday, January 17, join us for Story time at 10 a.m. in the Central Library Children's Area in downtown Kansas City. Children will have the opportunity to hear a powerful story about the work of Dr. King and also will be able to give back to their community by helping to make Valentine's Day cards. The cards will be distributed by Harvesters to food insecure seniors through our commodities food boxes.

In addition, from 5-6 p.m., library patrons are encouraged to stop by Kirk Hall in the Central Library's main lobby to make Valentine's Day cards for Harvesters.

Each month, Harvesters distributes nearly 5,000 CSFP food boxes to homebound seniors. These boxes include shelf stable items like cereal, pasta, canned vegetables and juices. A homemade greeting included in the box will brighten the day of the seniors who receive them!
